Best Sounding Exhaust Setup for LS1 Camaros and Firebirds
Question:
I just purchase this system. It came with dual resonator tips. The system cost 873.00 I was surprise the lack of sound compared to the system it replace. The system number is 16723! How can I get the best sound for this system? My car is a 2001 Pontiac formula Firehawk. I was thinking about changing the resonator tips to tips without resonator. Your thought!!!!!

As the owner of a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am I am very familiar with exhaust systems for your 2001 Pontiac Formula Firehawk (nice car by the way). If you still have factory exhaust manifolds now would be a great time to upgrade to a set of longtube headers. This will increase the sound level of your exhaust as well as give you increased power and mileage.
An off-road Y-pipe would give you the max loudness and power increase, but this isn't legal on public roads so I cannot recommend that.
Long tube headers and a magnaflow catback like the part # MF16723 that you referenced are often regarded as one of the best sounding setups for our cars. I currently have headers and an SLP loud mouth system and its too loud and annoying. I plan to install the # MF16723 on my car as soon as I can. Changing the tips shouldn't make a noise difference at all.
