Recommended Front Mounted Trailer Hitch For A 2024 Ram 3500 DRW Diesel

Question:

Looking for a front hitch for my 24 Ram 3500 dually diesel. I like the Eco hitch EH37FR but it shows the same for a gas truck. Is that right? It also says for diesel models then in the same sentence- excludes diesel models. A bit confusing.

Hey Chris,

Our Fitguide can be a bit confusing sometimes. Essentially the whole category is broken down into whether they fit diesel or non-diesel models. Since the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH37FR fits both gas and diesel models it has both listings attached to it. You would be able to install this hitch on your 2024 Ram 3500 DRW Diesel.

If you plan on hauling some heavy items or using a snow plow then I recommend also installing some front end suspension enhancement to help offset the weight. You could go with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS68RR, which has an 800lb capacity so it can help without affecting your unloaded ride quality.

Thanks Kevin, The plan is to put a couple of e-bikes and rack we have on the front while towing our 5th wheel. The front is the only logical location as I don’t want to put it on the rear of the 5th due to low weight rating of the hitch back there (300 lbs) and adding weight to the back of my 5er possibly causing tail swing or weight distribution concerns. Plus I will be able to keep an eye on them up front.

@Chris A lot of bike racks aren't rated for use on the back of an 5th wheel any way since the suspension is a lot rougher and can put a lot of stress on the rack and cause it to break down so you're making the right choice having it up front.

@KevinC Thank Kevin, as for the Sumospring SS68RR’s do you have them in stock? I went to the SS website to get more info and they do not list that number - they list a SSF-302-40. Same load rate but 4 weeks to ship. Weird.

@Chris Yep, that looks like we're gonna be waiting a bit so if you're needing it right away you can go with the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL80532. These would stiffen up the front coils to prevent sag. Air springs do add a bit of stiffness even when aired down so these might not be the best comfort-wise when unloaded but the ability to air up or down to accommodate varying loads is very handy.
