Can A Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Be Installed In A 2019 Ford E-Series Cutaway
Question:
Why is the Redarc Liberty brake controller not an option for my 2019 e Series Cutaway? It is the standard Ford chassis for many class c motorhomes.

Hey Gary,
Brake controllers are pretty universal so even though it's not listed as a fit you would still be able to get the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR installed in your Ford. To make the installation super easy you'll want to pick up the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3034-P. This will plug into your vehicle's wiring so that you don't have to cut and splice or run wire back to the 7-way. To connect this to the brake controller you can either cut off the Tekonsha connector and splice it to the universal wire harness included with # RED52VR or you can go with the # RED24FR and pick up the adapter # RED52CR to connect to the Tekonsha wire harness # 3034-P.
The next step will be finding a good space to mount the control knob in the dash. I've attached a little diagram showing the dimensions of the control knob wiring so you can make sure it fits within the space behind the dash, but you'll also need to ensure that the dash isn't too thick where you install the control knob. It'll need to be 0.12” or thinner for the knob to be able to compress when using the manual override. I typically find a spot to mount the knob and end up having to carefully trim down the back side of the dashboard get the knob to fit. If you have a button blank in the dashboard those are usually the best place to install and provide a real factor look.
If you have any other questions just let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Thanks Kevin. So the splice will be the 4 wire connector into the back of the controller? I just match up the colors?
