Hi Andrew; the Rhino-Rack Backbone Roof Rack Mounting System # RRRJKB1 and the RCL Legs # RRRCL6 are compatible. The spacers # RRQMHD05-3 act as an adapter since the HD bars won't fit as is. If you're fabricating your own crossbars it will be up to you to figure out how to mount them.

Ok so if I’m using unistrut would the spacers be necessary. I guess what makes the cross bars mounting options different. Also are there any good coupons available for use.

@AndrewH I really don't know since that isn't something that has been tested or that we have any information on. I only know what is necessary to put the Rhino-Rack parts together and in some cases parts from other manufacturers but not fabricated crossbars. We do not have any coupons available at this time.

@RobinH will the Vortex Aero Bars hold up to off-roading? Can’t find much info on weight ratings.

@AndrewH Rhino-Rack says in the instructions that the roof load rating should be divided by 2 if you aren't on sealed roads. Realistically it depends on the level of off-roading. If you're driving normally on a dirt or gravel road it won't be much of an issue. It sounds like you're going to be doing more extensive off-roading so I would expect this to apply to your application.
