Adapter to Convert OEM 4-Pole to 7-Way and Recommended Brake Controller for 2011 Ford Expedition

Question:

I have a 2011 ford expedition with 4 pole plug but I need 7 pole for a brake controller. Is there a wiring harness that converts 4 to 7? Also will need a brake controller also.

To convert your existing 4-pole into a 7-way, you'd use the # 37185 adapter. The adapter will plug into your 4 pole, leaving 4 wires remaining. The blue adapter wire would connect to the blue wire located on the driver's side frame rail, behind the rear tire. The black adapter wire would connect to the orange or red wire on the frame rail, the white wire would ground to the vehicle frame and the purple wire would typically be tapped into the reverse lamp circuit. If you are not towing a trailer equipped with reverse lamps or a hydraulic surge coupler with an electric reverse lock-out, you can just bundle the purple wire up and out of the way. You'll likely need a few feet of 10 gauge wire like # 10-2-1 to make the connections to the blue and red or orange wires on the frame rail.

For a brake controller, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The P2 is a top seller that is highly rated by our customers. The # 3035-P wiring adapter would also be needed. One end of the adapter would plug into the rear of the controller, the other end would plug into the connector under the dash to the right of the OBD port (see photo and install video).
