Transmission Cooler Recommendation For 2013 GMC Yukon XL With 5.3L Engine
Question:
Im interested in a transmission cooler for my 2013 Yukon XL. Id like to know what cooler is recommended as well as any adapter fittings so I dont need to cut and flare the OEM lines if possible. It has the 5.3L engine and the 6 speed transmission. The factory cooler is integrated into the radiator but it cant keep up when Im pulling my 30foot camper.

You will want to determine where there is enough space to mount a transmission cooler on your 2013 GMC Yukon XL. If there is room, using the largest cooler that will fit is a good idea, especially if you are towing. I have attached a drawing that shows the best places to mount a cooler, with 1 being the preferred location, which is between your vehicle's grille and the AC condenser core.
For your Yukon I recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13504. This cooler measures 11 inches Wide x 12 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep. I have attached a drawing that shows the mounting dimensions you can check out. This cooler includes the complete mounting kit with OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps and radiator adapter.
You will also want the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting, part # D13035. This adapter snaps easily into place without the hassle of cutting and flaring lines.
