Instructions for Universal Fifth Wheel Install Kit, Part # RP30035 on a 2009 Silverado 2500

Question:

I have a Reese hitch, the base rail mounting kit is part # RP30035. I own a 2009 Silverado 2500 series standard bed. Where do I drill the holes to install the base rails?

Expert Reply:

For the 8 foot bed, the rearmost rail would mount so that the back edge of it is 30 inches forward of the rear of the bed. For the 6 foot 6 inch bed, the rear of the back rail would mount 25-1/8 inch forward of the rear of the bed. Once you have the rear rail located, you can attach the hitch to the rear rail to locate where the front rail mounts.
On the front rail, the two outer holes on both ends of the rail are used to mount the rail, as well as the front and rear center holes.
On the rear rail, the second row of holes from each end is used, as well as the two center holes, front and rear.
