Any of our Proportional Brake Controllers will work with your 2002 Ford F-150. If your F-150 came with a 7-Way trailer connector from the factory, then there are custom fit wiring harness available to make the brake controller plug and play and eliminate and wiring work. If you do have the factory 7-Way, I would suggest either the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 part # 90885 with Harness # 3035-P. This controller is one of our best sellers because of how well it works and how easy it is to set up.

If you have a factory installed 4-Way, you would need an additional part to complete the 7-Way at the rear, part # 118242

If you do not have the factory trailer, you can still use a proportional brake controller, but it will require some extra wiring. You would order the same brake controllers, but you would two additional wiring components to complete the wiring at the end of the vehicle. You would need a 4-Way Connector, part # 118344 and a 7-Way connector, part # 37185. After you install the 4-Way, seen instructions link below, you would connect it to the 7-Way and then run the loose wires. The white wire would be connected to a good ground point on the truck frame and you would run the other 3 loose wires to the pre-wired harness according to the Ford Brake Controller Install page, last picture, for 1997-2004 Trucks that I have linked below. I have also linked to a video install of the Prodigy on a 2004 Ford F-150.

If any of this is confusing or need additional help, please write back and include what connectors, if any, you have factory installed at the rear of the truck.
