Using 48 Inch Long Crossbar With Yakima Roof Rack Installed on 2014 Ford Focus

Hello I have a 48 inches crossbar to give my cousin but her 2014 ford focus requires 58 inches bar. Whats the different between that? Thanks for your time

I spoke with my Yakima representative, who tells me that they recommend the longer 58 inch crossbar and that a 48 inch bar hasn't been tested and therefore they don't recommend using bars that short.

I've provided an install photo showing the 58 inch bar installed. As you can see, there's not much overhang. I doubt the 48 inch bar would be long enough. I don't believe you'd be able to use those shorter bars on a 2014 Focus.
