Can Swagman Platform Bike Rack Hold Womens Bike Without Adapter Bar
Question:
I am interested in the Swagman XC bike rack #S64650. I need to know if this rack will work with a womans bike with a step-through frame. This bike is a Diamondback Serenity Classic and has 26inch wheels. With the bike upright on level ground it is 16.5inch from the ground to the lowest point of the step-through frame. Will the frame clamps on this rack go low enough to hold this bike without having to use a frame tube adapter. I do not want a rack that I will have to use an adapter. If this rack will not work with this bike, can you recommend one that will? I would really like to keep the cost under $200.

I did some research and with the bottom of your bike frame that low, the bike would not be stable enough in the carrier and could have issues. I could not recommend the Swagman XC Rack, part # S64650, without the use of an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and would allow the Swagman XC rack to hold the bike steady in the carrier.
