Who Can Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Chevy Corvette Convertible

Question:

where can I go to have the hitch installed onto my 2005 Corvette Convertible, I do not want to do it myself and would prefer an experienced shop that has install experience on a newer corvette, I live in Lima, Ohio want to get it done sooner than later I want to tow my Harley to Sturgis behind my Vette?

A motorcycle purist would say Ride that hog to Sturgis! But you and I know that is not always an option. Plus there is something about a Vette towing a Harley that is awesomely American. Talk about turning some heads! I checked with Curt and they have a Gold level installer at the Sears at the Lima, Ohio shopping mall who could install hitch # C11034 on your 2005 Chevy Corvette. A trusted mechanic or RV dealer with a service center could also perform the installation.

Please note that the hitch only fits models that DO NOT have the dual mode exhaust. This is exhaust that is quiet at low RPMs and light throttle pressure but with higher RPMs the butterfly valves open up and it gets louder.

You will also need wiring. For a trailer wiring harness you can use # 56014. The shop that installs the hitch should also have no problem installing the wiring.

Since you will be towing a trailer you will also want a ball mount. You can use a Euro style ball mount with a 1-7/8 inch ball # C45571 or with a 2 inch ball # C45572.

The capacity of the trailer hitch is 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight.

It is not likely that Chevy has a tow rating for the Vette but consult the owners manual to be sure.
