Question:
I have a 2010 Ford Escape. I want to put a hitch on it just to carry a cargo carrier on the back. Its a 4 cylinder so I do not want to haul anything. Any suggestions on what style I should get? I have a 2 inch ball receiver that I will be using. Can you help?

When choosing a hitch for your 2010 Ford Escape, I recommend installing a Class lll hitch, like the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13650. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver opening which gives you more options when using any hitch-mounted accessories.
Most hitch mounted cargo carriers will not require a ball mount or hitch ball. They will install in the receiver opening of the hitch. If at a later time you wish to tow something, you can check out a ball mount like part # 2923. This gives you the option of a 3/4 inch rise or a 2 inch drop.
For a hitch mounted cargo carrier, I recommend the Curt Folding Cargo Carrier, part # C18151. This carrier has an outside dimension of 62 X 25 inches, which will give you quite a lot of room for cargo.
I also recommend a trailer hitch receiver lock like part # e98880. This will help deter thieves when the carrier is installed.
When I researched your Escape I found it has a tongue weight capacity of about 350 lbs. This would be the combined weight of the carrier and any cargo placed in the carrier.
I have attached some links to product review for some of the products I recommended you can check out.
