How are the Holes for Gooseneck Safety Chains Placed in the Truck Bed

How are the U-bolts exposesd so one can hook up the safety chains. Does one cut slots in the truck bed to expose the u-bolts in order to hook up? Thanks

In addition to the 3-1/2 inch diameter hole for the gooseneck ball to pass through, four 9/16 inch holes will need to be drilled for the u-bolts to pass through the truck bed. The u-bolts are spring loaded so that they will sit flat in the bed when they are not being used, but can be easily pulled up in order to attach the safety chains. We have some excellent installation videos online, I will give you a link below to see one of them.
