Removing Grease Caps on Trailer Axle to Change Out Seals in Hubs

I need to know how to remove these hubs, I have grease coming out the back on my tire rims, and I know I need a seal, but how do I remove the cap with the zerk in it

Grease caps on the ends of trailer axles are a tight fit. To remove them you can use a rubber mallet and tap downward on the end to get them loose. Then you could probably just pull it off by hand. There are also some that thread on and you would turn it counter clockwise to remove it (if it is the type that threads on/off).

To remove the seals you will also need to remove the wheels and the hubs. This would be a good time to inspect the bearings and to pack them with fresh grease such as # L11380. I have linked a video to the right that should help.

To choose the correct replacement parts you will need the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings. There is also a number on the seal, see picture, but it can be difficult to read. To prevent a blowout of the grease seal again a double lip seal is the best option.
