What is Offset Provided by the Convert-A-Ball 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter CAB-C5GX1216

Question:

I was thinking about purchasing CAB c56x1216. Offset gooseneck to fiver. Fifth wheel is 8. From ball to cab 38. DOES THIS PRODUCT MOVE PIVOT POINT 7.5? #2=DOES A FIVE INCH EXTENDED PIN INCREASE CLEARANCE? If not what works for me? Thanks.

The Convert-A-Ball 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 that you referenced does provide 7-1/2-inches of offset (additional clearance) while adapting 5th wheel king pins for towing with a goose neck hitch ball. This type of adapter can be helpful with short-bed trucks that do not provide enough cab-to-trailer clearance.

A better solution for towing a 5th wheel with a goose neck hitch is a specialized replacement pin box called a goose box. The linked article will give you plenty of background on the options.

We offer a Reese Goose Box to replace two popular 5th wheel pin boxes. Reese # RP94720 will replace the Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes.
