Best Trailer Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2014 Chevy Silverado
Question:
Im looking to buy a 2014 Silverado that advertisers trailering package but does not have the integrated brake controller on the dash. My question is..does the 7 plug trailer package deliver a signal to the electric brakes on the trailer without the fancy integrated controller. Ive heard no and yes but youre not able to adjust gain on brakes without it. Which is it? Tks

Without a brake controller (factory or aftermarket) there will be no output from the truck to the trailer brakes. With that said the factory controllers have been found to be adequate at best so I recommend an aftermarket one.
I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. This is one of our most popular controllers of all time because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. It is compatible with electric trailer brakes and electric over hydraulic braking systems. You will also need wiring harness # 3016 to plug the controller right into your truck. I have linked a video showing how the harness installs.
