Using a B&W Companion Hitch with Sidewinder in a 2014 Ram 2500 with OEM 5th Wheel Prep Package
Question:
Im doing as much research as possible before purchasing my hitch. I really like the 3600 but i read on their website that it will void the warranty if using a sidewinder with a wedge. Is it safe to use those or just a tactic by bandw to get you to spend more money? BTW I am going to be pulling a 5th wheel with a 2014 ram 2500. Thanks for any advice!

We have worked with B&W on this exact issue. The warning that you see about Sidewinders/Revolution pin boxes is only an issue with the B&W hitches that fit ONLY in the gooseneck ball hole. If you use the model that fits in the 4 pucks in the bed of the truck whether it be your 2014 Ram 2500 or a Ford, you can use a Sidewinder.
B&W is working on updating that information and said that the only reason it appears is because the head unit is the same but the bases are different depending on the hitch and application. So if the B&W hitch secures in 4 places instead of just one, you can use a Sidewinder pin box.
So if your new 2014 Ram 2500 has the factory installed 5th wheel prep package, you would use Companion hitch # BWRVK3600. For a Sidewinder, it depends on the pin box manufacturer and model number. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box. I have included a link to the right that covers Sidewinders for you.
The Wedge for the B&W hitch is # SWW-06. You would ignore that comment about adding extra bolts in the description of the wedge.
