Fifth Wheel Rails and Hitch Recommendation for a 2000 Ford F250 to Replace Bed Mounted Rails

Question:

I have an existing fifth wheel hitch that is bolted in to my bed and wheel wells only, I have been told that I need frame mounting brackets. This hitch has what I call side plates that bolt into the bed and small side brackets that also bolt into the wheel wells in my 8foot bed. My truck is a 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty, 2 wheel drive with a 7.3 diesel and a manual transmission. The side rails of the hitch have two bolts on each end and two more bolts that bolt down the wheel well brackets. I am wanting to order the correct frame brackets, however, I cant find any existing pictures of the hitch I have. The only pictures that even come close are what were labeled Holland Type fifth wheel hitch. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you

That is a very strange sound fifth wheel setup you have in the bed of your 2000 Ford F-250. Are there any brand names or part numbers you can get off of the hitch or rail system? We would love to see any pictures of this setup if you have them as well.

For a rail kit that will install on the frame of your truck and has been tested to be safe I would recommend the part # RP50082-58. This is a custom install kit that will minimize drilling and install in about half the time of a universal kit. Check out the install video I attached as well.

These rails would accommodate any hitch confirmed to fit industry standard rails. If you have a long bed you would want a hitch like the part # RP30928.

If you have a short bed truck you would want a slider hitch to let you make 90 degree turns, for a hitch with a slider you would want the part # C16536.
