Is Actuator Needed with 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly # 23-468 and # 23-469

Hello, If I buy 10inch Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly for 3.5K Axles - RH and LH, do I need to buy an actuator or just wire it to my trailer connector? If I need an actuator, which one do I get? The trailer currently has a surge system which doesnt work. Thanks,

When using the 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly for 3.5 K Axles, Left Hand # 23-468 and Right Hand # 23-469, you will not need an actuator for the brakes to function on the trailer. An actuator is used to pressurize the hydraulic brake system so it is not needed for electric brakes. In order to function, the Nev-R-Adjust brakes will need to be wired to your trailer connector. The brakes will then receive it's signal from a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, which would be installed in the cab of the tow vehicle.

Since you mention that your trailer currently has a surge brake system, you will need lock the moving portion of your actuating coupler. If you are unable to immobilize your brake actuating coupler, you will want to replace it with a standard coupler.

A few other parts that you may need to complete the brake installation are:

7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, # H20046, if your trailer isn't currently equipped with one.

10 Gauge Primary Wire, # 10-1-1, to wire the brakes to the trailer connector.

Trailer Wiring Junction Box, # 38656, and Ring Terminals, # 44-5310A, for a fast and easy way to make the connections from your trailer connector to your trailer wiring.

Metal Loom Clamps, # A0250, to secure the wiring to the trailer.

Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector, # DW05745-10, for connection from brakes to power wire.

I have attached a few videos and articles for you.
