Dimensions On Platform-Style Bike Carriers When Folded For Backup Camera Clearance On 2014 Xterra

Question:

Could you measure the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the second bar, top and bottom of the clamp arm and bottom of the 3rd bar on the right side looking from behind on the 4 bike version of the Thule T2 when folded up? Im ing between the T2 and Kuat Nv 2.0 and want to understand how each will obscure my back up camera.

I went to our warehouse and took some measurements for you. I have attached a photo of the Kuat Bike Rack, part # NV22G-NA22G that shows the dimensions you asked about. As you can see, there is very little room for between the arms and posts to allow the camera view to be clear.

The Thule bike carrier, part # TH69TX has similar dimensions, and would certainly obstruct part if not all of the camera view. Due to the bit of flexibility in the arms there will be some variation in the measurements and no guarantee even when measuring how it will line up with the camera on the rear of your 2014 Nissan Xterra. You may be able to increase the visibility for the camera if you remove the 2-bike extension on the T2 bike rack. If you only need to carry 2 bikes, you can use the # TH83JV which is the same as removing the 2-bike extension on the # TH69TX.
