Are Crossbars Needed on 2005 Subaru Forester for Thule SnowPack Extender Ski Carrier

For the 2011 subaru forester do I need to purchase additional crossbars to put on the ski racks?

Yes, you will need crossbars to use the Thule SnowPack Extender Ski and Snowboard Carrier, part # TH7325, which you referenced. Part # TH7325 fits with round, square, aero/elliptical and most factory crossbars. According to my research the 2005 Subaru Forester can come with a factory roof rack with crossbars, with flush mount rails that run front to back, or factory side raised rails that run front to back.
If your roof has the factory roof rack with crossbars you will not need any additional parts. If you have flush mount rails that run front to back I recommend going with the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack.
