Will Timbren Rear Suspension System # THROD2 Stop Sag When Towing with 2005 Honda Odyssey

how is the THROD2 installed on a 2005 odyssey? will that help with the sagging issues while towing?

I have included a link to the complete installation instructions for the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, # THROD2, on your 2005 Honda Odyssey. Just raise the vehicle to allow the axle to hang freely and remove rear coil springs and existing bump stop. Now you can mount the Timbren assembly to the existing bump stop brackets and re-install your coil springs to complete the project.

This system will reduce vehicle sag and acts as a shock absorber to extend the life of your Odyssey's suspension.

Although the Timbren system will reduce sag on your van, I recommend taking a look at a weight distribution system. Using a weight distribution system will actually reduce the sag by taking weight off of the rear axle and distributes it to the front axle where as springs do not. Honda also states in the owner's manual that if the total trailer weight is more than 1,850 lbs, you must use a weight distributing hitch. I have attached an article for you that answers common weight distribution questions.

When choosing weight distribution you will need to go by the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. If your tongue weight falls between 200 and 600 pounds, I recommend taking a look at our Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, # RP66082.

This system evenly distributes weight over the axles of tow vehicle and trailer for stability and control, creates a more level ride for both tow vehicle and trailer, and includes dual-cam sway control that works to stop sway before it starts. You will just need to add a hitch ball to this system, # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch.

Just a reminder, you will want to ensure that you aren't exceeding the weight limitations of any component in your towing setup. This would include the vehicle, the hitch, and the weight distribution system. Your vehicle's information can be found in your owner's manual.
