Review of B and W Ball Mounts BWTS30049B

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the B&W Tow and Stow 3 inch ball mount for three inch hitches. This ball mount with the built in hitch balls lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank slides into the receive tube of your hitch, and then the hitch balls provide the connection points for the trailer coupler. It can be used in either the drop or rise positions, and it features a stowable design that lets you store the balls of the mountain platform underneath the receive tube of your hitch from the reverse side here of the adjustable portion of the unit.To move it to the stowed position, you just need to remove these two pins and clips, and then it has a built in channel right here, which allows this unit to pivot. So you lift up, and then it rotates and stores on the reverse side of the unit. Now with it in this position, you can see that it creates a really nice flush design at the back of the vehicle. And it takes those hitch balls and moves them out of the way so that way when you're walking around the back of the vehicle, you don't have to worry about accidentally running into that and hurting your legs.Another neat feature is the adjustable height design.

This lets you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. Also allows you to make sure the towing setup is as level as possible. So again, you remove those two pins and clips, and then you can slide the mount up or down anywhere along that shank. Once you have the height that you need for your application, simply take the pins, feed them through, you do need to make sure that both of them are engaged through the hole. And then you place the clips here on the other side. Now I did point out that it has a slot right here in the shank.

This ensures that the ball mount platform can't be removed when the Tow and Stow is installed in the hitch. So there's no additional locks required to prevent the platform and the hitch balls from being removed. It does have three differently sized hitch balls on the unit, so that's going to let you tow trailers with different coupler sizes. You have a one and seven eighth inch, a two inch, and a two and five sixteenth inch ball. To switch between the hitch balls, you simply remove this pin and clip, and then this rotates. So that way you can get to the one that you need for your application.

And then once you have the one you need, you take in the pin and simply secure it with the clip on the other side. Now the hitch balls are steel, and they feature dual processed chrome plating. Provides excellent rust resistance, the rest of the unit has a black powder coated finish on it to resist rust and corrosion, and it uses stainless steel pins to create sturdy, rust proof connection points. It's a durable steel construction with high yield tubing. Offers superior strength and durability. To get it secured in your hitch, you will need a hitch pin and clip, or a hitch lock. Those items are sold separately and available at etrailer.com.

And again, it is designed for a three inch by three inch trailer hitch receiver. Now when it comes to the guard's towing weight, it depends on which ball you're using. So the unit itself is rated up to 21,000 pounds. When using the one and seven eighth ball, you're limited to 3,500 pounds, the two inch ball is limited to 7,500 pounds, and the two and five sixteenth ball gets you that full capacity at 21,000 pounds. A few measurements that I want to mention for you real quick.I took a measurement from the center of the hitch pin holes to the center of where the hitch balls are. So you'll notice that it has two hitch pin holes on the unit, you can simply use whichever one works best for your application. The one that's closest to the hitch balls is separated, arm center, by nine and one quarter inches, the one that's furthest away from the hitch balls has a separation measurement on center by 10 and three eighths of an inch.If you're using this in the dropped position, with the unit in the lowest setting, gives you a maximum drop of seven and a half inches, that's from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch, to the top of the ball platform. If you have it flipped over in the rise position, it gives you a maximum rise of seven inches. And then the incremental height adjustment is one and three eighths of an inch, that's the distance center on center between our adjustment holes. The product is made in the USA and covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's lift, the B&W Tail and Stow three ball mount for three inch hitches.
