B and W Gooseneck Hitch - Below the Bed - BWGNRK1300 Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the Installation Kit. Has a 30,000 pound weight capacity. This is a custom fit design. It is designed to fit the 1973 to 1980 Dodge full-size trucks and the 1981 to 1993 Dodge Ram trucks.

And because it's a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide. Put in your year and model vehicle it'll show if this'll work for your application. Now, this is a nice heavy duty underbed hitch, lets you tow your gooseneck trailer. And what's nice is with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Hitches, you get the best of both worlds. Basically when you go to tow, the Turnover ball creates a nice sturdy, dependable connection for your gooseneck trailer. And then when you're done towing, you can just stow the ball upside down in the hitch and get full truck bed access.

Nice clean appearance.Basically to do that, you just take your handle over here, pull it out, and just move it a little bit, and it'll hold it in the open position. And then you can just remove the ball, flip it upside down, grab this little handle on the bottom and then drop it right back into place. Release your handle, and it locks the ball in there. And again, because this is all installed under your bed, you'll have full truck bed access to do anything else with the truck. It does use a 5/8ths inch thick spring loaded steel locking pin on the end of this handle. It goes all the way through the ball, secures it into place.

And this handle you would access at the rear driver's side wheel well. So again, if you're ready to tow, just take your handle, pull it out, move it a little bit, and it'll lock it in the open position. Pull up on your ball, flip it back over, drop it back into place and you're ready to go. Just release your handle and it locks it into place. It does use a single piece machine ball socket here, provides rugged durability. And if we pull the ball off, just want to show you, it has the square ball base on it.

Prevents the ball from turning into hitch during hookup. And if you notice on the ball itself, the corners are chamfered. They call that a "corners only fit" and it prevents grind buildup inside the hitch. So when you drop it into the square hole, they have the rounded corners and it's chamfered here so it keeps any dirt or grime from building up in there, making the ball get stuck in there. It does offer spring loaded safety chain hookups right here that are built in. Hook your safety chains to that. And they do offer, B&W has specially designed accessories that we do sell separately. That makes it easy to customize this hitch to fit your needs. You can get a B&W companion hitch adapter. And what that does is that'll drop into the ball hole and it's a fifth wheel hitch. So it'll allow you to tow a fifth wheel trailer with this gooseneck trailer hitch. Now to install this, it's a very simple installation. There's no welding required. Truck bed does not have to be removed. It does require drilling 4-9/16 standard holes through the truck bed floor, the hitch receiver assembly, and the truck frame rails. Does require a 4 inch diameter hole cut in the truck bed to access the ball. And then 4-1/2 inch diameter holes for the safety chain hookups. Does include all the mounting hardware, nice set of detailed instructions on how to install it. It is a nice powder coated steel, which is very sturdy and corrosion resistant. It is made in the USA.Again, the specs on it is gross towing weight capacity of 30,000 pounds, tongue weight capacity of 7,500 pounds. And the ball size is the standard gooseneck ball size of a 2 and 5/16ths diameter. So again, right now it's locked into place. The ball's not going anywhere. And if you're done towing, you can just pull your handle out, move it to open position, take your ball, flip it over, drop it right back into place. Release it to lock it and you're all ready to go. But that should do it for the review on the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the Installation Kit.
