B and W Pintle Hitch - Pintle Hook - Ball Combo - BWTS20056 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook and Hitch Ball Combo, with a two and five sixteenths diameter ball and this is for two and a half inch hitches. Now this is a pintle hook and hitch ball combo that lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank right here, this is what'll slide into the two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receiver. And if you notice on the shank they've actually chamfered, or rounded off the edges to make it a lot easier fit to slide in and out of your hitch receiver. On the front is your pintle hook, which will connect to your lunette ring couplers. Basically the way you'll connect it is you just pull this clip, slide the pin out, raise on the pintle lock here at the top, and then you could drop your lunette ring, which will drop on over the ball.

Put your pintle lock right back on there, take your pin, slide it through, take your clip and just snap it into place. And now you're locked already to tow. Now, in that position, the pintle hook will offer you a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. The other nice thing about this, if you just want to use it in a regular hitch ball to connect to any standard ball couplers, what you'll do again is take the pin out and then this pintle lock will drop down and the hole will line up here at the bottom, you slide it through, put your clip on there and that'll lock it in the up position. And then you can use this just as a standard hitch ball for your standard ball couplers. Now in that position, it'll offer a 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this ball mount will offer adjustable heights, so it'll let you tow trailers at different heights with the same vehicle.

They have many holes drilled down here, so you can slide this up and down and the height adjustment is one inch increments. In other words, those holes are drilled about one inch apart from each other. If you measure it center to center, it's going to have a one inch incremental height adjustment. Now in the maximum drop position like it is now, it'll get you eight and a half inches maximum drop. But again, you can adjust it by just pulling this two clips, slide these pins out, and then you can see that it'll go up and down, and there's where all the holes are, and you can put it in whichever height you need for your application.

And as we mentioned, the maximum drop position, we'll get you eight and a half inches. Now you can take this platform off, flip that around, side it back on, and it'll give you a rise position. And that position, the maximum rise would be four and a half inches. Now the nice feature, or actually one of the main features on this is a stowable design that'll let you store this pintle hook and ball underneath your vehicle to keep it out of the way so it doesn't interfere with anything, and keep anybody from bumping their shins on it. But just to show you that, let me go ahead and put this pintle lock back down, and then what you'll do to stow it.. Now I've taken these clips off.

Anytime you put your pin through there, you always want to clip it to secure it. You never want to do it without clipping it. In this case for this demo, I'm not really putting the back in just to show you.But what you'll want to do is slide this to put it in the stowable position. Slide those two pins out again and then if you'll notice what you can do. Let's see if I can get this to flip over and you just flips it like that right underneath it, line it back up into what position you need. Put your pins through there, put the clips on it, and now this will be inserted in there, but if you notice it's flipped up underneath so it clears out all everything back here, it's not sticking out. So you don't run into it or somebody might bump into it. This gives it a nice stowable position. Now they do use a dual process chrome plating on the ball. Let me just flip that back to show you the ball. And again just rotate this back out. Lining it up, put your pins through there. Now this ball I'd mentioned, it's a dual process chrome plating provides excellent rust resistance. The shank, the platform, they use a black powder coat finish and it's also corrosion resistant. The pins we've been using that I've mentioned, these are all solid stainless steel pins, create a nice sturdy rust-proof connection. This whole part is a durable steel construction, has high yield tubing, offers superior strength. Now when you do install this into your hitch receiver, it does require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock, those are not included. If you already have a pin and clip, you could use the one you have. If you need one we do sell those separately. And we also sell hitch locks, which will allow you to lock this to your hitch. And again, they're sold separately and we usually list them on this product page as a related product. And this part is made in the USA.So I'm just going to go ahead and slide the clips back on. And again, anytime your going to use it, you always want to be able to clip it so you can secure it. And one other thing I want to mention is people have asked us before, is that when you do adjust the height, you always have to use two pins, you never want to just use one pin to hold it in place, you always want to use two pins. But that should do it for the review on the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook and Hitch Ball Combo with the two and five sixteenths diameter ball for two and a half hitch inches.
