Blaylock Industries Gooseneck Trailer Lock Kit - BLTL-53-40D2 Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Blaylock EZ Lock Gooseneck Coupler Lock Combo with the padlocks. Now this is a set of 2 coupler locks that will prevent theft of your gooseneck trailer, that has an adjustable Bulldog, Stallion, Superior or T.E.M. coupler on it. Now for this video demonstration, I am using a Bulldog coupler to demonstrate how the locks would work.

So I want to zoom in to show you the locks. One right here, this coupler latch lock, you can see this is designed to fit around the base of the trailer coupler and it's to prevent access to the latch right here, that opens and closes your coupler. The narrow end portion with the hooks on it, is designed to slide over the coupler bracket near the handle. And it keeps that latch handle from being open when it's locked in place. The other lock right here has a set screw lock.

And this is designed to go over the set screw and lock into place, kind of prevents the removal of the inner tube from the outer tube of your coupler. Now they do use the 3 quarter inch steel diameter steel pins in both the locks to slide through the brackets and secure the locks to your coupler's base and the set screw. And they do use stainless steel padlocks with hardened steel shackles to secure both the pins in place. And just to show you how they work. So on this one, the longer pin will go through here.

So you can see this hooks into the front here and in the back, so just take your pin, slide it through the, there's 2 rows of holes. So you want to put it through the row of holes that'll be closest to the coupler to keep it from moving. And then again, you'll take your stainless steel padlock, open it up. Line it up with the hole in the pin and just go ahead and slide it through there. And once you get it all the way through, take out your key and you can see that lock, locks that pin in place, and it keeps anybody from removing this coupler lock at the bottom here.

On the set screw right up here, now to install this set screw lock, you will have to install this washer on your set screw. In other words, remove your set screw, put the washer on and then tighten it down. And the reason you do that is because this lock does have a little groove in it. You can see that's cut and that's what slides over the washer. So what you want to do is slide out the pin, has a little spacer there that helps to keep it from rattling. But again, you take your cutout portion, slide it over that washer until it's in place. And then you'll go ahead and take your pin, slide your pin through the spot right there, and then you'll take your padlock and we'll go ahead and open the padlock. And you'll just go ahead and line it up, same way, put it through the pin. Once it gets all the way through there, take the key out. And then that padlock locks that lock onto the set screw. So nobody can access that set screw and loosen it. So just like that, you have your 2 locks on there and it prevents anybody from taking your unattended trailer. The locks themselves are made of an aircraft grade, lightweight aluminum construction, very strong, and it'll resist wear and corrosion. And as you can see, each lock comes with 2 keys. So a total of 4 keys are included. The parts are made in the USA. And as we mentioned the application, again, this will fit most adjustable Bulldog, Stallion, Superior and T.E.M. gooseneck couplers. Just to give you dimension on the coupler lock, length of that is about 11 inches long, about 6 and a quarter inches wide. And the height is about 4 and a half inches tall. But again, you can see, how they're set screw lock up here and a coupler lock at the bottom. But that should do it for the review on the Blaylock EZ Lock Gooseneck Coupler Lock Combo with padlocks..
