Review of Blue Ox Accessories and Parts BX229-0512

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Blue Ox threaded quick link for safety chains. The sturdy link is going to let you quickly attach a safety chain to your vehicle or base plate. It's got the threaded keeper right here. It just simply screws shut. It's very easy to operate when it comes to opening and closing. No tools are required, but if you would like to use a wrench to tighten and loosen, a 3/4 inch or a 19 millimeter wrench would work well for this unit.

It's made from a steel construction. It's going to have a zinc coating which is going to protect it from rusting corrosion. It's going to offer a maximum capacity of 10,000 lbs. The diameter, right here, is going to measure a half of an inch. The opening, if we take a measurement of this gap right here, that opening measures about 9/16 of an inch. I do want to point out that the threaded portion right here has a collar at the top of it that's a little bit larger in diameter then compared to the actual link.

Again, the link is a half inch diameter. The threaded portion, that collar at the top is going to have a diameter of about 9/16 of an inch. We're going to go ahead and go over the internal and external measurements. Do the internal link measurement first. That's going to give us a measurement of about 3 1/4 inches.

Measuring from here to here, that's going to be about 15/16 of an inch, then measuring from the flat side of that barrel. This is the barrel right here, measuring from that flat side to this point here, that's going to give us a measurement of about 13/16 of an inch. The external measurements, outside edge to outside edge, we're looking at about 4 1/4. Outside edge to outside edge going this way, we're looking at about 2-2 1/16 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Blue Ox threaded quick link for safety chains..
