Review of Brophy Trailer Cargo Control T2WB

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Brophy stake pocket tie-down winch for a flatbed truck or trailer. This winch lets you tighten down a cargo strap so that you can safely secure a load to your truck or trailer. It will accept a two-inch wide strap. It's got the slot right there to run the strap through, plenty of room on the underside so you can bring out your excess and tie it off or secure it another way. The strap is sold separately. If you're in need of one, you can find them at etrailer.com. The unit also is going to require a winch tightening bar for operation. That's sold separately as well.

Your winch tightening bar would go into one of these slots, and then it gives you the proper leverage needed to tighten the strap over your load. All the holes on that side of the winch are going to measure 9/16", and there's four holes around that unit. This is a removable design, so the base slides into a standard 2x4 stake pocket. It can be easily removed and reinstalled as needed. It's a very convenient design. It secures in place with the included 5/8" diameter pin and clip using these holes down here. Right here is the easy-to-access release bar.

You can see here that the unit only rotates in one direction, does not go back the other way. To release the strap, you would simply pull down on that spring bar, and that allows the unit to free spin either direction. The unit's constructed of a durable steel construction. It's going to feature a black powder coated finish over the unit that's going to provide a protection from rush and corrosion. The winch components are going to feature that yellowish zinc finish, which is also going to do a great job at resisting rush and corrosion. The product's fully made in the USA. It's going to offer a safe working load limit of 3,333 pounds, with a maximum load or break strength of 10,000 pounds. With this part number, you're going to get one tie-down winch.

Please note that tie-winches must be chosen according to their safe working load limit, so the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the tie-downs being used. That goes for the straps as well. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. This area is going to give us an edge to edge measurement of about 3-3/8". Going this direction, it's going to measure about 1-1/2". From the bottom of the plate to the bottom of this portion right here, it's going to measure 6".

From the bottom of the plate to the center of the pin hole, it's going to be about 5-3/16" right in that area. From the top of this plate to the top of the winch, we're looking at a measurement of about 4". From the top of the winch to the bottom of the plate, it's about 4-1/4". Then edge to edge going this direction, from this point here to this point here, it's going to give us an overall width measure of around 6-1/4". That's going to do it for today's look at the Brophy stake pocket tie-down winch for a flatbed truck or trailer.
