Review of Brophy Truck Bed Accessories RHS2

Today, we're going to be taking a look at Part No. RHS2. This is the Brophy Hitch Stair with 2 steps. It is designed to fit into 2-inch x 2-inch trailer hitches. The stairs can be used for many different applications. The most common one with this type of setup would be to help gain entry into your truck-bed camper.

You can even use it to gain access into your cargo area, your truck bed, maybe some items on the vehicle roof. It would also work well as a step for your pets to get in and out of your vehicle. You can install it on a front-mounted hitch. That way you can gain access underneath the hood of the vehicle and do any work or repairs or maintenance that you may need to. Here on the back of the shank, you're going to see that it's a 3-pinhole design. Now each one of these pinholes is going to be separated on center by about 3 inches, so from the back of this step to the center of that first pinhole, we're going to have about a half an inch to this one right here we're going to have a distance of about 3-1/2 inches.

To this back one, we're going to have a distance or separation of about 6-1/2 inches. Each pinhole is going to allow you to gain some more clearance between the step and the back of your vehicle, so it's really nice that they offer 3 pinholes to choose from. That way, you can choose whatever one's going to work best for your application. The pinholes are going to have a diameter of 5/8 of an inch. Your hitch pin and clip or hitch pin lock are sold separately.

If you don't have them, you can find those here on the website. Everything that you see is going to be made from a steel construction. The shank's going to be a hollow tube, but it's completely steel construction with a nice black powder-coat finish, so it's going to last a long time. It's going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. The steps are going to have the diamond-plated design. That's going to offer good grip and sure footing when you're using them.

No assembly required. We're going to have a fully welded construction so you don't have any bolts or screws to worry about replacing or anything like that. Overall, the unit's going to offer a capacity of 250 pounds. I will take a measurement of each step. Looks like they're going to measure the same. Measure this one first. That's going to give an overall length of 17 inches. This one's going to give us an overall length of 17 inches as well. This one's going to give us a depth of 6 and 1/4, and this one's going to give us a depth of 6 and 1/4, so they're both going to be the same. If we take a measurement from the top of this step to the top of this step, try to level it out a little bit, it looks like that's going to give us a measurement of about 10 inches. Actually, what we can do is I'm going to do that again and we're going to do a flat edge right here, measure up from that. We can see that that's going to be right at the 10-inch mark. That's going to be the separation we have from the top of this step to the top of this step, and we are at an angle, so from this step, this point here to this point here, we're going to have a separation of about 3 inches. Now one last measurement I want to go over with you real quick. I did take a measurement from the center of each pinhole to the outermost point of the step. From this closest one, I got a measurement of 16-1/2 inches, and then these are going to be separated by 3 inches, so 16-1/2 inches from this pinhole to the outermost point of the step, 19-1/2 inches and 22-1/2 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at Part No. RHS2. This is the Brophy Hitch Stair with 2 steps for 2-inch hitches.
