Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a weld-on safety chain retainer. The weld-on safety chain retainer has a removable clevis pin for ease of chain replacement. Also if you want to prime and paint to match your trailer you can easily remove that as needed. The load limit for this unit is 10,000 pounds. The retainer is designed to work with a 5/16 inch chain. It's constructed from tough, forged steel. And with this installed, it allows you to easily remove and replace the chain when needed.
It does come with the removable zinc-plated clevis pin as well as the cotter that measures 3/8 inch in diameter. Again, steel construction, plain finish. The tab portion, which is this portion here . Again, it is a weld-on safety chain retainer. This has an overall width measurement of about 7/8 inch, thickness measures about a 1/2 inch to 9/16 inch and then the length of that tab portion, that gives us a measurement of about 2 3/8 inches long. Now the opening right here, I'm just measuring the gap.
That gives up a measurement of pretty close to 1/2 inch. Outside edge to outside edge measures about 1, maybe close to 1 1/4. And then go in this direction, it's about 1 inch tall and or 1 inch thick. That's going to do it for today's look at the weld-on safety chain retainer. Again, this is designed for a 5/16 inch chain..
