When it's not being used, it flips up. It's got a really secure hold in this position. So it flips up when it's not in use. It has the red reflective sticker that covers the bottom of the step and shows when the step is folded up.

It offers very sure footing with the nonslip surface. Slides in a trailer hitch to function as a hitch cover as well. So it's going to keep out dirt and grime. It secures in the hitch using a standard pin and clip or a hitch lock. Those items are sold separately and are available at etrailer.com.The pin holes on this unit will accept a standard 5/8 inch diameter pin.

There's two pin holes to choose from. So you just choose whichever one works best for your application.When it comes to the construction, we're looking at a black powder coated aluminum construction.
