Today we'll be taking a look at the Carr hitch mounted step for two inch trailer hitches. This is going to be a handy step to get into your truck bed, or access your cargo area inside your vehicle, or even help to get items loaded up onto your roof. It just installs in your two inch by two inch hitch receiver. It does need to have a pin and clip or a locking hitch pin to use this since you don't want to step on that without it being properly secured. It does not come with one, so you will have to pick one up separately. We have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com whether you want just a regular pin and clip or a hitch lock.Basically the way this step will work we have our United States Coast Guard insignia on the front and then if we flip this down, that'll give us access to that step.
It has a nice raised texture. It's kind of this diamond plate design. So, it gives us a good grip into our shoes. Don't have to worry about any slipping or falling with that step. Say a five inch wide by two and a half inch platform there.
So, it should give us a good amount of space to get our foot up and give us a bit more height whenever we're getting those items loaded or if we're grabbing anything out of our truck bed. It's made of a black powder coated aluminum so we don't have to worry about any kind of rust or corrosion. It's going to be pretty lightweight but also very durable.Whenever we're done with that step we can just flip that up into it's more compact position. That spring, there's a little clip on the back, provides a really good tension on there so it's not gonna flop around at all. It holds really securely and you can easily get your toe on there to flip it down and then flip it back up into place.
As far as measurements, again our step is five inches wide, lip it down again, by two and a half inches. That's from the outer edge of the step to this edge here. Really you can probably get about three inches of space if your toe happens to go up there. So it gives us a good platform. The distance from the end of the step to the end of the shank is about eight and a quarter inches from the end of the step to our pinholes. Seven inches to the closer pinhole, this one here.
And then about seven and three quarter inches to the second one. Those two holes are spaced apart by about three quarters inches and the nearest point that this would make contact with our hitch. Flip that up again. Going from that platform, it's about two and two and a quarter inches of space before it would make any contact to that nearest hole or about two and three quarter or about three inches to that second hole. The weight capacity for the step is 650 pounds, so plenty of weight capacity there to hold us and any kind of cargo that we might have in our hands at the time as well. It does come with a limited lifetime warranty and it is made in the USA. And that's going to do it for our look at the Carr hitch mounted step for two inch trailer hitches.
