Review of Carr Truck Bed Accessories CARR183012

Today we're going to be taking a look at the car hitch mounted step for two-inch trailer hitches. This is going to provide quick and easy access to your vehicle's truck bed, cargo area, or roof rack. Then, when it's not being used, you can flip it up for an unobtrusive look. It's going to add a clean, finished look to your hitch. It's also going to do a great job at keeping out dirt and grime. That way, when you're ready to install another hitch-mount accessory, such as a ball-mount, bike rack, or hitch cargo carrier, you can do so without any interference. It does a great job of keeping those things out for an easier install of your accessory later. It's going to feature a really nice reflective finish.

This covers the bottom of the step and shows when the step is folded up. That's going to have a nice, protective finish over the reflective material that's going to keep it safe from scratches and abrasions, and it's going to keep it safe from fading. The unit offers sure footing, with a nice, non-slip surface. It's got the hitch tabs right here. This is the portion that slides into the trailer hitch receiver, again, keeping dirt and grime out of there. It does require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure it inside the hitch.

Those items are sold separately, so if you're in need of those, you can find them at etrailer.com. The pin holes on this unit will accept a standard 5/8 inch diameter pin. It's going to feature two hitch pin hole locations. That way, you can choose whatever one works best for your application. The unit's going to be made from an aluminum construction that has a black powder-coated finish, very strong and durable. It's going to resist rusting, corrosion, and last a long time, and it's made right here in the USA. I do want to mention that it uses this nice spring plate design, so that way when the step is in the up position, it isn't going to accidentally come down.

It requires some force to get it into the usable position, which is a really nice feature. You don't want that making noise when it's not being used at the back of the vehicle. It is designed for a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver. If we take a measurement of the step platform, it's going to measure about 5 1/8 of an inch by 2 5/8 of an inch. The weight capacity on the unit is 650 pounds. Taking a measurement from the back of the face plate to the center of each hole location, that first hole, we're looking at about 2 3/8, to the second hole, we're looking about 3 1/8 of an inch. The unit's covered with a limited lifetime warranty.

That's going to do it for today's look at the car hitch mounted step for two-inch trailer hitches.
