Review of Curt Accessories and Parts D-192

Today we're going to be reviewing part number D-192. This is the Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, providing an 8" Extension. The top receiver opening is not for your towing use. This is where you would install your hitch mount accessories such as a hitch bike rack. The bottom receiver is for towbar or trailer use. For instance, you could hook this on to your RV, flat tow your vehicle using the bottom receiver and carry at hitch carrier bike rack using the top receiver tube. It is going to come with a 5/8" pin and a clip.

That's to secure the inside of your trailer hitch. The gross trailer weight of this unit is going to be 3,500 lbs with a maximum ton weight of 350 lbs. if we take a measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the pin hole on the receiver tube. That's where we're going to get our extension measurement from right at 8". The distance that we have from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the receiver tube, that's going to give us a measurement of 5". Then 5 1/2" from the center of the hitch pinhole to the back of the center support bar here that connects to the receiver tube portion.

If we take a measurement from the inside top edge of the bottom receiver tube to the inside bottom edge of the top receiver tube. That's going to give us a measurement of 3 3/4". Please keep in mind that using a hitch extender will reduce your hitch's overall capacity by 50%. It's made from a solid steel construction. It has a nice finish on it so it is going to stand up really well against rust and corrosion. It's also a really simple installation.

All you have to do is slide the shank into the receiver tube of the hitch. Line up your pinholes. Then you can insert your hitch pin and clip or hitch pin and lock to secure it inside of your hitch. That's going to do it for today's review of part number D-192. This is the Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, providing an 8" Extension. .

Questions and Comments about this Video

It would be helpful to know the limitations for using the D-192 with bike rack and a cargo carrier, e.g. will the bike rack interfere with the 6 rails of a cargo carrier?

Thanks for your input, I have passed this infomation along to our video team. We do not currently have a video that shows this interaction, and some of that would depend on the bike rack, the bikes them selves, and the cargo carrier. For example a children's bike will allow for more clearance than an adult bike near the cargo carrier. It will also depend on how the cargo carrier is constructed if it has a straight shank or a raised shank. I have provided a link to our product page for this dual receiver, and an other video that does show some additional uses of this item, but a bike rack and cargo carrier combination. It shows a bike rack and trailer combination.
