Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Subaru Legacy Trailer Hitch Wiring - C79CR Review

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the CURT T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness System. This is going to provide the 4-pole flat trailer connector for your vehicle so that you can pull a trailer and have the trailer's lights reflect what your vehicles lights are doing. The really nice thing about this system is how easy it is to get installed. Basically, you're just going to need to get back behind your tail lights. This main cord here with the yellow, brown, white, and red.

This is going to plug into the back side of your tail lights and then to the plug where your tail lights are currently plugged in. So it's going to send that signal out to your trailer wiring, but then it's also going to re-complete that signal so that your tail lights on your vehicle still work.So once you get that substituted for your current setup, you'll just need to ground your white ground wire. They do include a self-tapping screw to get that ground to just a metal surface behind your tail lights would work. You'll mount the box here somewhere back behind there. It depends on your preference where you want to get this mounted up.

They do include some double-sided adhesive here to easily allow you to mount that on a flat surface. Then you'll run the green and white wire portion over to your passenger side tail lights. So this will be on your driver's side. This'll be your passenger side. Same process. Just unplug your light, plug this in to where the tail light is already plugged in, and then pull your tail lights into this and you'll be ready to go.They also have this black power wire here.

This is going to run up to your vehicle's battery. So it's not pulling too much power from your tail light signals, causing issues there. So they do include wire for you to run up to the front of your vehicle, to tap into your vehicle's battery. When you run this, you do want to make sure that you're staying away from anything that's hot or moving on your vehicle. So it's not to damage the wire, but they do include some zip ties here to help you get that mounted up in place.

So it will stay out of your way.Once you get up to the front of the vehicle, they do include a fuse box here, so the antifuse, so that you can easily tap into the wire that you've got run up to your battery. And then include a ring terminal to put onto your battery. This fuse is just obviously going to help protect the whole system from any backfeed from the trailer or sending it out to the trailer. So everything that you need to get this installed is included. They've even included a little dust cap for your 4-pole plug here, so that you can keep dirt and debris, moisture off of the plug if you are going to store it outside your vehicle. This whole system is designed to work for your 2020 and newer Subaru Legacy. Sorry. It is going to work seamlessly for you to provide that 4-pole flat trailer connector. This is compatible with your 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. Those are sold separately, but if your trailer needs any of those options, you can add on an adapter for your 4-pole system.Overall, it's just going to be very simple to get installed. One reason I really like this, you're not going to have to worry about doing a whole lot of wiring. Basically just crimping your extension wire up to your battery and they do include the butt connectors for that. So it's a very simple process. Just plugging it in.You're not going to have to worry about damaging your vehicle's wiring by slicing into it or anything like that. So it's a good way to go if you are needing trailer wiring for your vehicle. So that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
