Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - CU86FR Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the seven way trailer connector. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2019 Honda Passport vehicles, and the 2016 and newer Honda Pilot vehicles. And on a custom fit part like this I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in a year model vehicle and it'll show you if this'll work for your application. Now this kit will provide the seven way blade style trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. And this does connect very quickly and easily, there's no cutting or splicing of wires.

Basically all you have to do is locate the connection point, which is behind the driver's side rear access panel, and the set of installation instructions will describe that, where that's located. What you'll do then is you'll see two connectors that'll match up to these connectors. You'll go ahead and plug these connectors in. Once that's done, go ahead and open this inline fuse holder.Take the included 10 amp fuse, install that into your fuse holder, and then go ahead and close that. And then what you'll want to do is run the rest of this wire, the seven way wire through the grommet.

There's a grommet underneath your car. You'll cut an X in the grommet, run this wire through that underneath your vehicle to the center of the hitch. They do include this tube of black silicone to help you seal where it goes through the grommet. And then once it gets down there, you'll want to plug this into your seven way connector just like that, and then connect this to your vehicle. Now the mounting bracket to install this seven way is not included.

We do sell that separately on our website. It's part number C58000 and it's listed on this product page as a related product. Once that's all connected, then you want to take this black box here, it's a pretty heavy black box, you want to attach that to a flat surface so it doesn't bounce around. So they give you this piece of double face tape that you can stick on there and attach it to a flat surface. And then you'll have this white ground wire with the eyelet on it. You want to connect this to a good clean ground if there's one nearby.

If not, they give you this grounding screw that you can make your own ground. Now they do give you some nylon cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring. And as I mentioned, this installation instructions will go step by step and describe how all this connects. Then the last thing you want to do is after the wiring harness is all installed, you'll go to your engine compartment, locate your fuse panel which is next to the brake fluid reservoir, remove the cover on the fuse panel, and then you want to install these fuses. There's two 20 amp, these yellow 20 amp fuses. They'll install in the number three and number 11 locations. And then the larger 30 amp pink fuse, that'll install into location number two.Now this seven way you notice does come with this nice protective cover on it that helps seal it and protect it from the elements. Few specs on this wiring harness, the maximum amperage for the stop and turn light circuit is three amps per circuit. And for the tail lights it's six amps per circuit. But that should do it for the review on the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the seven way trailer connector.
