Review of Curt Gooseneck C60720

Today we're going to take a look at the Kirk Double Lock Flip and Store Under-bed Gooseneck Hitch with the installation kit. Has a 30,000 pound weight capacity. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1999 and new Ford F250, F-350, and F-450 super duty trucks with either the 6 and 3/4ths foot bed or the 8 foot bed. Now on any custom fit part, I like to recommend to go to our website. Use our fit guide.

Put in your year and model vehicle. It'll show you if this will work for your application. Now for this video, I've actually installed all the mounting kit to the gooseneck hitch head just to show you what it looks like all put together. This is what it would be like under the bed of your truck. This is a heavy-duty under-bed hitch, which'll let you tow your gooseneck trailer. Does use a double lock system, provides added security because it uses two pins when it locks the ball into place instead of your normal one pin.

Does use zinc plating on the locking mechanism to help provide superior corrosion resistance. If you notice, the gooseneck ball's a chrome-plated hitch ball and it does easily remove when you're not towing for complete access to your truck bed. All you have to do is go to your handle. Pull your handle all the way out and then twist it and it'll hold it into the open position. Slide the ball right out. There you can see the two holes for the dual pin locking system.

Just flip it over. You got a little handle there, drop it down into position, and then release the handle and the dual pins'll go across and lock it into place. Basically it'll store upside down in the hitch and then what's nice is it gives you this rubber cover that you can put on after it's been dropped into place. With that cover in place, that'll keep any dirt and grime from falling down into that hole. Plus it'll give you full access to your truck bed now. It does have a chrome ring.

You can see right here that surrounds the hitch ball hole. This'll provide a nice, tight, low-profile look. On the handle itself, it uses a comfort grip handle. This handle can be positioned on either side of the truck. I have it here on the driver's side. You would access it on the driver's side wheel well. It can be put on this side if you prefer having it on the passenger's side. Safety chain hooks as you can see are built in. They're spring loaded. Check your safety chains for that. That'll hold them into place. Finish is a nice, black, powder coated steel. It's durable, corrosion resistant. It does come with the mounting kit. All the stuff here is included. It comes with grade-A hardware to install. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions. When you do install it, it does require a four-inch hole drilled in your bed to access this hole and then four half-inch holes for the safety chain for the bolts to fit through. There is no welding required when you install this. Now a couple other accessories that Kirk sells that works with this real well is they do a fifth wheel towing adapter plate. It's part number C6210. We sell that separate on our website. They say it's a fifth wheel. It has a shaft in it and that would slide down in there and lock it into place with the dual pins and then you'll be able to tow a fifth wheel with your vehicle. The other thing is they offer an offset hitch ball instead of the ball being straight up and down. It will be offset to the rear of the truck. That's part number C602 that we sell separately on our website. The reason for the offset is it will create additional space between your truck cab and trailer tractor clearance. On the ball size, let me go ahead and turn it back over with the little handle. Lock it in the open position. The ball size is a 2 and 5/16ths diameter ball size. The gross towing weight capacity on this is 30,000 pounds. The vertical load is 7,500 pounds. Again, just to show you how this will operate, you can see once you get the ball dropped into place, you release the handle, the dual pins will lock it and you're all ready to tow. Then when you want to store it, pull it, lock the pin open, flip it over, drop it down into this storing position, put your cap on, release it. It's locked into place and you're all ready to go. That should do it for the review on the Kirk Double Lock Flip and Store Under-bed Gooseneck Hitch with the installation kit and a 30,000 weight capacity.
