Micheal: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Curt Grip Step, trailer hitch mounted step. This is going to slide right into your two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver tube just like any of your other hitch mounted accessories. This is going to offer a nice platform for you to step up more easily access things on your roof or ladder rack or cargo area. This step platform is going to give you right about seven inches of space there in our depth, then with the width, right at about 23 inches. So plenty of room for you to step up and access some of those materials.
You can see this does have a nice expanded metal tread, that's going to offer maximum traction and safety for us. So we're going to have nice sure footing as we're stepping up there and it being open like that and open on the bottom. It's going to allow us to knock dirt and snow off your boots, and it will just fall right through there. So you don't have to worry about tracking that into your vehicle. On the ends here we do have a nice, smooth rounded end cap on each side, that's going to help to eliminate sharp corners. Because, I'm sure we all know how unpleasant it is to hit are shin on a sharp corner.
If we add those end caps in to the equation, it's going to give us a total width right at 25 inches. So keep that in mind and make sure that that's going to work for your application. The step is a nice aluminum construction, so it's going to be very lightweight, easy to put on and take off for your different applications. Obviously, aluminum is very resistant to any sort of corrosion, rust-proof. But it also has a nice black powder coat finish to just kind of give it a cohesive look and to help with that corrosion resistance.
Our shank is going to be a steel construction, so it's going to be very strong and durable. We're going to have an overall weight limit of around 350 pounds, but it is going to be determined by your hitches tongue weight rating. So obviously you don't want to exceed that, but again we do have that black powder coat finish to help resist rust and corrosion. So, it should last for a nice long time for you. This is going to come with the step, the shank, the hardware to get it all assembled and then a 5/8ths inch pin and clip. Now this is just a standard pin and clip.
So if you need to, you can add on a locking pin that would help to ensure that no one's going to steal your step when you're not around. But that is just something that you could add on later. This does have two hitch pin holes to accommodate for different size trailer hitches. So our distances from our back point of our step out to this closer hole is about 3 1/2 inches and then from the back point of our step to that farther hitch pin hole, it's about 5 1/2 inches. So again, just make sure that that's going to work for your setup. This does come with a limited lifetime warranty. So if you we're to have any problems with it, you could give us a call, we'd be happy to help you out with that. But I really don't think you're going to have any problems. I think this is going to be a great option for those of you who want just a simple way of stepping up, accessing things that are higher up on your vehicle and it's going to be a nice solid option to help with that sure footing and knocking snow and those sort of things off your boots. So that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
