Review of Curt Tow Bars C19745

Today we're going to be taking a look at a Curt tow bar. This is a coupler style tow bar that let's you tow your vehicle behind your motor home. It's going to feature the integrated coupler that attaches to the hitch ball on the RV. This is designed for two inch hitch balls. It's also going to come with these universal bumper brackets that let you attach the tow bar to almost any vehicle. These bumper brackets attache to a flat, metal section of your vehicle's bumper. If that's not present, then just keep in mind that modification and fabrication maybe required.

Basically what these do is they eliminate the need for vehicle specific base plates. Hardware to get the bumper brackets installed is included. The adjustable arms of the unit fit the span of most applications. That's another great feature of this system. The arms attach and detach from bumper brackets with these easy to access pins. Basically the bumper bracket.

I'm going to rotate this around, make it a little bit easier to see. This bumper bracket right here would be attached to the vehicle. The arm has this swivel connector on there. It lines up with the holes right here on the bumper bracket. Then attaches and detaches with this easy to use clip system right here.

It's very quick, very easy to attach and detach the arms of the tow bar from the bumper brackets installed on the vehicle. Again, the adjustable arm design is a great feature to have. I do want to mention that the adjustable arms can adjust anywhere from 26 inches wide to 41 inches wide. In the instructions it is recommended that the spacing is right around 33 inches. Again, can be set from 26 to 41 inches. It's going to use a trigger style coupler latch that insures simple, secure hook up and disconnect that's very easy to use.

Again, the unit is designed for a two inch hitch ball. It's going to be constructed of a steel construction with a powder coated finish. It's going to do a great job of resisting rusting, corrosion making sure that the unit looks good and lasts for a long time. Safety cables are going to be sold separately as well as a coupler pinning clip or a coupler lock. If you need any of that stuff you can find it all right here at etrailer.com. The capacity for this unit is 5,000 pounds. Again, it is designed to fit a two inch hitch ball. Adjustable arms spacing, 26 to 41 inches with a recommended spacing of 33 inches. The coupler lock pin hole, or the pin hole for a coupler pin is going to be quarter inch diameter. The unit itself weighs around 31 pounds. Please note that according to the instructions, do not back up while the vehicle is attached. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt tow bar with a 5,000 pound capacity.
