Review of Dexter Trailer Hubs and Drums 84655UC1-EZ

Today we're going to review part number 84655UC1-EZ. This is the Dexter trailer hub assembly, the 3500-pound E-Z lube axles with the 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. This trailer hub assembly will fit on E-Z lube axles. It includes all the parts shown here. It includes the bearings right here. It includes the races which are pre-installed into the hub.

It does include the double-lip grease seal, the E-Z lube grease cap, and the lug nuts. Now this is designed to fit an E-Z lube axle. The nice thing with the E-Z lube design is it'll make lubricating your bearings very simple. Basically once this is installed on the spindle of the E-Z lube axle, you'll have access, once you put your cap on here, you're going to remove this center rubber plug, and that will give you access to the grease zerk fitting that's on the end of the E-Z lube spindle, so once you pull that out, you can grease your bearings and you don't have to disassemble the hub to get to the bearings to lubricate them. You can just do it through that E-Z lube axle. Again, the application, it fits most 3500-pound E-Z lube axles, including the Dexter axles. The bolt pattern is 6 lug, 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

The wheel studs are a half-inch diameter, and the weight capacity on this one is 1750 pounds, so when you pair this one with on the other axle will get you your total weight capacity of 3500 pounds. Now the bearings that are included, this is the inner bearing, the larger bearing. It's part number L68149 which is stamped on the bearing itself, so you just turn this to the inside here, the inner part. You can see the races pre-installed, so you just lube this a little bit, go ahead and install that onto the race. Then you take your double-lip seal, and you tap that around until it seals into place and keeps everything in there. Then you go to your front, and you put some grease in your outer bearing which is part number L44649, and again, your race is already installed. You just put that in there, slide this whole unit over your spindle.

The spindle would come through. Put your washer on, your nut on, tighten it down, and once it's all in place, you just take your cap, cap it into place, and then you're ready to go. Again, to lube it, all you'd have to do is pull off this rubber plug, and that would give you access to that zirk fitting to lubricate your bearings. It also comes with the six half-inch lug nuts that are used to hold the wheel and tire assembly to this hub, so once you put your wheels and tires up on here, then you just take your half-inch lug nuts, go ahead and torque them down to the correct specifications for your application, and then your trailer will be all ready to go. That should do it for the review on part number 84655UC1-EZ, the Dexter trailer hub assembly, the 3500 pound EZ lube axles with the 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. .
