Review of Draw-Tite Gooseneck 9464-35

Today were going to review part number 9464-35 this is the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the installation kit. This kit is design to fit the Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 models with the six foot and eight foot beds. What you want to do is to determine the years that will fit in the models is if you go to the product page for this part number. At the bottom of the page therell be a listing of the models that this will fit the years and the models of Dodge Ram with this kit would fit on to. Now, this Underbed Gooseneck Hitch when installed on your vehicle you only have the ball and the safety chain loops that are visible in the truck bed. The rails and hardware, mounting brackets are all mounted under the bed.

You wont be able to see those in the truck bed. This will allow for full truck bed access when your ball stored. It does include this 2-5/16 ball that can be stored upside down in the bed when not in use. Just want to show you that right here this handle is what will release the ball. Right now its in the straight up position that means the handle cannot be pulled.

When this is installed this handle would be in your fender well. If you just push that handle down that will release it and allow you to pull it out and theres a little notch there that would stick on to that allow you to just pull up and remove the hitch ball. This is a 2-5/16 hitch ball and when you want to store it all you got to do is turn it upside down, drop it in to place, and its hidden now. Then just release the handle put it back up so the handle cannot be, and then it will lock that hitch ball in. Then they also include a nice magnetic cover that you can lay up over that keeps any dirt and grime from falling in to where the hitch ball is located.

A nice thing about this is, let me just show you. This hitch ball has a nice round shank, right here if you notice that will reduce the raddle in the hitch, the round sleeve and the ball have a tighter fit than any of the square design Goosenecks. Again, Im going to show you theres a little groove on this side and you have to line that up, theres a little pin that sticks out. It lines up that way if you turn it and try to get it in it wont fit that way, just line the screw up with the pin in there, that way it will line it up to allow the handle to go in and lock it in to place. Again, this handle you do have convenient fender well access to this handle to disconnect the trailer hitch ball.

This handle does have a nice easy grip to it. This Gooseneck also includes the safety chain attachment point right here that it flush in the truck bed. They are spring loaded so when you go to attach your safety chains you can just pull up on it, attach the chain, let it go. When you remove your safety chains and you let it go it will just pull right back down against the truck bed. Now, on this it is a vehicle specific rail kit thats install thats included with this that helps your Gooseneck installed very quickly. There is no drilling, welding, or bed removal required. As you can see this mounting brackets on the side, we have installed here a couple of the you can see the U-bolt this is what itll tighten up around your truck frame, these mounting brackets will attach to the truck frame, it makes for an extra strong hold and a quick install. The Gooseneck Hitch itself is attached to these rails with the four, five, eight inch diameter grade eight garage bolts. All the pieces have a eco base with a black powder coat finish for superior corrosion resistance. These parts are made in the USA, they do come with a limited lifetime warranty. Again, this ball size is 2-5/16. The towing capacity you will need to see your vehicles owners manual because this unit is rated to match the manufacturers tow rating. The Gooseneck Hitch head unit itself is rated at 30,000 pounds gross towing weight with a 7500 pound vertical load limit or pin weight. These rails are rated to much the manufacturers two rating in your owners manual. Installation tips basically when this is installed the only thing you have to drill in your truck bed is the 3 inch diameter hall for this ball to fit in to. The safety chain attachment point, these spring loaded U-bolt you just would drill four 9/16 holes that these would fit through. Thats all that require of drilling holes in to the truck bed. This part is tested to Vehicle Equipment Safety Commission Standards which is VESC-19. Again, just to show you, you can pull the hitch ball out, just turn it, drop it in to place, at the handle turn it up so the handle is lock, the ball wont come up, put the magnetic cover on. Youd have nothing, have full truck bed access. Now, when you go to use it just turn the handle down, release it, pull up, flip it over, its that easy to go.That should do it for the review on part number 9464-35 the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the installation kit. .
