Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Fixed Ball Mount - 2923 Review

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Draw Tite Ball Mount for two inch hitches. It has a three quarter inch rise and a two inch drop and a 7,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this ball mount will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right back here is what will slide into your vehicle's two-inch hitch receiver opening and the ball platform right up here provides the mounting point for your hitch ball.

Now the hitch ball is not included. That is sold separately. If you notice on the shank portion has a nice angle cut to it. This allows for easy installation and removal of the ball mount and both the drop and the rise positions are available to ensure level towing. When it's in the drop position like this, it's two inches from the top of the inside of the hitch opening. And when you flip it over into the rise position, it's three quarters of an inch from the top of the inside of the hitch opening.

At the end of this video, I am going to put this in a hitch and measure the drop and rise for you just to show you what we're talking about. This is a sturdy steel construction, has a nice hollow shank. It has a black powder coat finish on it, covers an eight coat base for superior rust protection. It does come with the five eighths inch diameter pin and clip that you use to secure it to your hitch receiver. A few specs on this, again, it's designed to fit two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers.

Gross towing weight capacity is 7,500 pounds. Tongue weight capacity of 750 pounds. A few dimensions we're going to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole.So if we put a ruler on that, it goes center to center, it's right at eight and a half inches. And then if we measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back end of the ball mount, you can see that's going to be right at up two and a half inches. The ball hole diameter, which is in the ball platform here, diameter in that is right at one inch.

So when you do purchase a hitch ball, you do want to make sure it has the shank diameter of one inch to fit in here. So what I'm going to do now, let's zoom out a little bit, here's an example of a two inch by two inch hitch receiver opening right here. So all I have to do is take your shank portion, line it up, slide it right in there. Once the hole lines up, then you take your pin, slide your pin all the way through, take your clip and clip that and that'll secure it into place. And as we mentioned, this is in the drop position, so it's coming measured from the top here to the top of the ball platform. If we put a ruler on it, there's your two inch drop. We flip it over for the rise, just like that, line it up with your pin, clip it and we'll measure from the top here to the top of the ball platform, and that's going to be right at three quarters of an inch rise, but that's going to do it for the review on this Draw Tite Ball Mount for two inch hitches with the three quarter inch rise, two inch drop, and the 7,500 pound gross towing weight capacity.
