Review of Draw-Tite Wiring 20017

Today, we're going to be taking a look at part number 20017. This is the Draw-Tite 5-Flat Trailer End 48" Harness. It's going to provide your 5-flat electrical plug or connection point here, at one end. The thing about a 5-way flat system is that it's going to contain that fifth wire. That's going to be the blue wire. That's going to carry the reverse light signal from the vehicle to the hydraulic brake actuator on your trailer. It's going to lock out the actuator from working when going in reverse. The overall length of the harness is going to measure 48".

This will work or plug into most 4-pole flat connectors. Just keep in mind that when it's used with the 4-way flat, the reverse lockout feature will not work. It's going to include 4 wire taps for easy installation. That's just going to be an easier way to connect the wires to whatever system you're hooking it up to. The gauge, when it comes to these wires, are all going to be 16 gauge. The all yellow wire is going to contain the left turn and brake lights.

The all green wire is going to contain right turn and brake lights. The white wire is going to be your ground connection. That needs to be connected to a clean, bare metal surface on the trailer frame. Brown wires, you've got one that runs with the all yellow wire and one that runs with the all green wire. The brown wires are going to contain the running lights signals, and your blue wire can be used for a couple different functions, like if your trailer has a surge brake coupler with electric reverse lockout or reverse lights.

The blue wire would be ran to one of those. The 5-way connector here has some nice grips on the sides, so it's going to allow you to easily connect and disconnect as needed. That's going to do it for our review of part number 20017. This is the 5-Flat Trailer End 48" Harness from Draw-Tite Wiring. .
