Review of Flex-a-lite Transmission Coolers FLX4126V

Speaker 2: Today we're going to take a look at the Flex-a-lite TransLife Transmission oil Cooler and the guard kit. It has 3/8th" barb fittings on the cooler and it's a class 5 rating. Now this TransLife Transmission Cooler will provide additional cooling to protect your automatic transmission from overheating. It's designed to mount in front of the radiator or your AC condenser. Cooler transmission oil will give you more reliable consistent shifts and it prevents your transmission from any damage caused by extreme towing conditions. This kit for the cooler will include the cooler itself, the 4' rubber hose and the hose clamps, the male and female hose adapters, the installation hardware, and a nice set of detailed installation instructions. Now on the cooler itself, the tubes they use, the brass tubes on these, they're a 1/2" diameter tube. And what's nice is on the inside they are designed with a high twist Turbulator design.

Basically, what that does is it allows the fluid as it goes through there to twist, and doing that improves the heat transfer. The inlet and outlet you can see has the 3/8" barb fittings on it. This is an 8 paths configuration. By that they mean the fluid goes through the heat exchanger 8 times. You can see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Now the cooler is made with aerospace epoxy construction.

And, again, it is a class 5 rated cooler. I do want to give you some dimensions on this. The width from the edge of this tube to the edge of this tube is gonna be right at 20". The height from the very bottom to the very top is going to be right at 10" tall. And the cooler itself is about 3/4" deep. Now, the cooler guard that comes with it, I'm gonna go over that.

This is the guard portion right here. This is designed specifically for this Flex-a-lite FLX4126 cooler. The guard is designed to protect your transmission cooler from any damage caused by rocks and road debris without compromising your coolers ability to reduce the fluid temperatures. Basically, you can see how it goes right over the oil cooler. Now this part will include the aluminium cooler guard, it includes these gator clips that are used to mount around the tubes and allows you to attach this to the cooler to protect it.

The other nice thing is using those gator clips will provide an air gap between the guard and the cooler when it's installed. This portion also includes everything shown here. It includes the 4 hose clamps, it includes all the mounting hardware and a nice set of detailed instructions for that. And again, this cooler guard is designed specifically to fit the Flex-a-lite FLX4126 transmission cooler. I'll give you some dimensions on the guard itself. The width as you can see is gonna be 17". Now the mounting tabs extend about 3/4" on each side, if you wanted to include those. Now the height you can see is going to be right at 10 1/2" tall and the depth on it is right at 1" deep. And again, when you go to install this with the gator clips it would drop in right over- just like that, and protect your oil cooler. That should do it for the review for the Flex-a-lite TransLife Transmission Oil cooler and guard kit with the 3/8" barb fittings and a class 5 rating.
