Flex-a-lite Transmission Coolers - Plate-Fin Cooler - FLX400117 Review

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Flex-a-Lite transmission cooler. Now, the reason why you want one of these is to help your engine stay cool while you're towing, maybe going through some of the hotter states in the US or wherever you might be and you want to make sure that everything's going to be flowing nicely and staying cool. The way that this is going to happen is by our transmission fluid is going to pass through here and then go through these plates. The little fins are going to help this dissipate the heat. It is made out of an aluminum construction, so that's known for dissipating heat really well.

By increasing the surface area through those little fins, it helps to make sure that that fluid is going to stay nice and cool. So as it comes back into our transmission, it's going to be cooled off and we won't have any worries about overheating while we're using our vehicle. So stacked plate, all the fins in between. It's going to have the two fittings at either end. It comes with these little rubber coatings to protect it in transit. So whenever you're ready to install, you'll take the provided hose, put it on either end, run it to your transmission.

It also comes with the barb fittings to fit into your transmission as well and some hose clamps to make those connections nice and tight. The little sticks here go through the cooler. You can actually put these through the fins or you can put them through the holes at the top or bottom to attach it in place. And then on the other end, you'll have these little buttons. So you can attach that there. You can go onto your existing transmission cooler.

So this can be added as a supplemental one to help everything stay nice and cool.It comes with everything you see laid out here. We'll also have some foam feet to help provide a little bit of cushion for our attachment there. Again, all the hose clamps, four of them. So two on each end here, two for our connection going to the transmission. A length of hose to go with it.And as far as the size of our cooler, it's about 11 inches wide, six inches tall, and three quarters of an inch in depth.

The fittings are going to be a 3/8 inch diameter and there are 17 rows of those plates. That's about all there is to it for our look at the Flex-a-Lite transmission cooler. This is, again, going to be a great option for towing with your passenger vehicle and making sure that you don't have any issues with overheating. Again, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
