Review of Go Power! RV Solar Panels 34272630

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Go Power! 100 Watt Solar Flex Kit. The solar flex kit is perfect for RVs and boats. Its flexible design can conform to almost any surface, which gives you a lot of options when it comes to mounting the panel. The kit converts the sun's energy into DC electricity and then that electricity actually charges your batteries and ensures that you have power when you need it.The unit features 100 watts, or 5.68 amps of charge power and the kit comes with what you need to keep your batteries charged. It is able to charge up to two batteries at a time. The panel can be installed by adhesive or with mounting screws.

Mounting screws are included. It also has the stainless steel grommets that are already installed to ease installation. The solar panel is durable, allowing a bend of up to 30 degrees. It's a really nice flexible design. It comes with everything laid out here on the table as well as your owner's manuals, but basically you get the solar panel. Again, this is a 100 watt solar panel.

You get the 30 amp digital PWM flush mount solar controller. This is the brains of the unit. You get the necessary installation hardware and you get all of your wiring connectors. Also, you get a fuse and a fuse holder, so it is fuse protected and that is a 30 amp fuse. Then it comes with your MC-4 red output cable and MC4 black output cable. Now the solar controller which is this unit here, this unit regulates current flow from your solar module to your batteries.

This allows you to choose your battery type and charging profile. It has a backlit digital display, so it's always easy to see. Again, this is your brains of the unit. It features different charging profiles such as flow charge, bulk or absorption charge, and equalization charge. It also features an automatic equalize feature that will charge and recondition your batteries once-a-month at a higher voltage to ensure that any excess sulfation is removed. It also features maximum power boost technology.

This allows you to override the normal charging algorithm of the solar controller and it's designed to be used before the end of the day if you know you will require many loads through the night. It can also be used when you just have installed the solar controller to put batteries on a boost charge right away. Now the controller displays voltage, PV-charging current and batter state of charge. Errors will also be displayed so you can quickly identify and resolve any issues. It offers a standard USB connection point right here for delivering five volts to small mobile appliances such as cell phones, tablets and small music players. On the bottom, it also features a connection point for connecting an inverter. The controller also offers battery reverse polarity protection, solar or ray reverse polarity protection, over-temperature protection and over current protection. When it comes to the solar panel, when it comes to the construction, we're looking at a laminate TPT back sheet. Again, it has the stainless steel grommets and the monocrystalline cells. The panel dimensions is 44 and 5/8 inches long from the edge of that end to the edge of this end. It's 21 and 7/16 inches wide by 3 millimeters or 1/8 inches thick. The panel itself weighs about 2.9 lbs., so it's extremely lightweight. Maximum power voltage is 17.6 volts. Open-circuit voltage is 20.8 amps. Short circuit current is 6.14 amps and the maximum system voltage is 600 volts DC.Now, I want to point out that if you're going to be using sealant or any adhesive, that will depend on the roof membrane material and that's why it's not included with this kit. Basically, when you're ready to install it, you need to pick out a good location for your solar panel. You want to get a lot of sunlight. It has your positive and negative cables right here with the quick connects on it.These quick connects will connect to the quick connects on the cabling, so red is positive, black is negative. Then, these cables on the other end, it has the bare wiring. That fits into the control box right here, so you have battery one, positive and negative; battery two, positive and negative. Then right here in the middle, you have the positive and negative connection points for the solar panel which would be your red and black wires included with the kit. Speaker 2: That's going to do it for today's look at the Go Power 100 Watt Solar Flex Kit.
