Review of Gustafson Lighting RV Lighting 277-000485

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Gustafson RV Scare Light. This oval light illuminates the side of your RV or camper to scare intruders. This can also be used as like the standard RV porch light, which because of the nice angled design of the unit, it is designed to cast light at a downward angle. So you can see the angle design, meaning that the top portion here is thicker and then the bottom portion is a little bit more narrow, so it does shine the light at a downward angle a little bit. It's a really nice design. We have a black plastic base with a clear, acrylic lens.

It mounts directly on the surface of your RV or camper. The hardware to do so is not included, but it does have four mount hole locations and you gain access to those by simply removing the clear lens. It's a two wire design. White wire is your ground wire. Black wire is your power wire. It does come with the incandescent bulb that's a standard 1156 bulb, which again is included.A few measurements to go over with you real quick, then we'll hook it up to power and you can see what it looks like with power running to it.

Measuring edge to edge going this direction, the unit gives us a measurement of 12 inches. Top to bottom is about 5 to 5-1/8 inches. The overall depth, that's how far it sticks out from the installation surface, that's going to stick out about 2-1/2 inches from the back to the unit to the outermost point here of the lens. When it comes to the mount holes, side to side this direction they're separated on the center by 4-1/4. Up and down they're separated on center by about 1-3/8 inches. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power and see what it looks like with some power running to it.

Again, the white wire is our ground wire and black wire is our power wire. You can see here it sends out a really nice clear, consistent signal. Again, it contains one incandescent bulb. It has a metal plate behind the bulb, so that really helps reflect as much light as possible and then the clear lens allows plenty of light to come through. That's going to do it for today's look at the Gustafson RV Scare Light.
