Review of Heininger Holdings Hitch Step HE4037

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Hitch Mate Truck Step Excel, extendable hitch mounted step for 2 inch hitches. Has a 500 pound weight capacity. Now the truck step Excel model, they offer you 2 more choices of extended length in a much larger step. Now this is a unique hitch mounted platform, which will install into your 2 inch hitch receiver opening. Lets you easily step under your truck bed, even with the tailgate down. The support strut here will extend the platform step up to 2 extended positions on the Excel platform.The first hole, and I'll show you how to do that.

There's a T handle right over here that you just pull to unlock it, and if you pull it, it will stop at the first hole. Now the first hole would be 13 1/2 inches from your receiver opening to the back of your step, and then the furthest hole, if you unlock it, and pull it that far it's going to give you 17 1/2 inches to the back of the step. Now with the step down, it will add about 8 1/2 inches to those measurements. That's the width of the step. It gives you a low profile appearance when not in use.

That support arm will go all the way back underneath your truck or your SUV. The platform is spring loaded. You can actually pull that and rotate it up and push it closer back. It's hard to do when it's not installed into a hitch so I won't be able to show you that, but it's spring loaded, so if you just pull this, it will fit flush.Now on the surface on the step is a non-slip, molded step surface. This itself is a sturdy steel construction.

On the support bar, they use a corrosion resistant zinc plating. This one does come with an anti-wobble kit's included. If you notice here it has the nut, the bolt, the washer and the anti-wobble block in there, so when you do install this into your hitch, and tighten that down it will keep it from moving.Applications for this again is 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. Weight capacity is 500 pounds. Just want to give you the total width and depth on this step.

Total width is right at 11 1/4 inches and the depth at the farthest point is going to be right at 8 1/2 inches deep, and then again like I've mentioned, if you flip this hitch up, or you flip the step up and it will be all the way up against here, it gives you about 2 1/2 inches from the end of the receiver when the step is fully retracted and folded.That should do it for the review on the Hitch Mate Truck Step Excel extendable hitch mount step for 2 inch hitches with a 500 pound weight capacity.
