Review of Hickory RV Steps RV and Camper Steps 95224RFALC1

Today, we're going to be taking a look the Hickory Springs Manual Pull-Out Steps for RVs. These manually-operated RV steps make it easy to get into and out of your motor home. Right now, I have them in the in-use position. To move it to the stored position, all you have to do is lift up on the bottom step, fold it up, and then push in on the unit. It automatically locks into the stowed position. When you're ready to extend it out to the in-use position, pull right here and then unfold, and it automatically engages into the in-use position.

This unit contains two steps. Located on each step are two grip strips that provide sure footing and safety when entering and exiting your RV. Three holes on each step platform allows for dirt and moisture to have a way to escape the platform of each step, and the steps are made from an anodized aluminum construction, so they're lightweight and rust-proof. The lightweight design makes extending and retracting the steps very easy. The frame and the linkages are made from steel and feature a black, powder-coated finish. The unit's very strong and durable, and it's designed to resist rust and corrosion, and last a long time.

Now, I do like the way that these steps look, because we have a curved radius design at the front, that offers a very nice, sleek look. It's an easy bolt-on or weld-on installation. This mounts to your RV frame in the same manner as your factory step. It may require outriggers for installation, those are sold separately, if needed. And mounting hardware for a bolt-on installation is not included, but the unit does feature pre-drilled mount holes here on the top of the side brackets. Those have a diameter of 3/8", two pre-drilled holes per side bracket.

The product is made in the USA. I did take some measurements, so we're going to go over the step dimensions. I measured from this point here to this point here and got a measurement of just the step platform area. That's going to measure 24", front to back, measures 8-1/2" deep, and each platform measures the same. The mounting bracket, which are the side plates, edge to edge it's going to measure about 25-1/4" wide. The side plates have a depth measurement, from front to back, of 12" deep.

Right here, you can see at the mounting area here on top, it tapers in; so from this point here to this point here is 9", this point to this point is 8". And then, the side brackets have a height measurement, bottom to top, of about 8-7/8". The bolt holes on the unit are separated on center, front to back, by 7", and side to side, center on center, by 24", right around that area. When it comes to the drop and rise from the mounting area to the top of the top step, it measures 4-3/4", from this top to this top measures 6-1/2". So that should drop and rise. And when it comes to weight capacity, it has a capacity of up to 300 pounds, but please keep in mind that weight capacity is always dependent on the location of the installation area, capacity of the installation area, and the materials used for the installation. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hickory Springs Manual Pull-Out Steps for RVs.
