JR Products RV Wiring - Cable Hatch - 372S-27-14-A Review

Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the JR Products electrical cable hatch. This is going to be for your RV's to house that 30 amp cable. So on the outside, we'll have this little slide to open up our door. Now it's going to protect our cable from any kind of damage or debris getting into it, any water or anything like that.

It's going to be resistant to any corrosion from road salts or acids that you encounter out on the road. It's just this colonial white color, which basically is just kind of an off white or maybe a cream color, kind of a light beige. That built-in slot helps you run the cable out of the hatch whenever your door stays closed, so you'll be able to run that cable out there without any issues. And then whenever you're ready to close it up for good, just slide that little guy there and it'll hold that tight. This does accept just a 30 amp cord, so it's only for 30 amp cords, and it does need a cut out of two and seven eighths inch in diameter to fit in place. And so you will need like a two and seven eighths inch hole saw to get that cutout or it will fit into a hole that already exists.

Put our handy dandy ruler on there, and you can see the actual size is a little bit smaller out here on this far end. As we get a little bit closer, it does taper out a little bit more so it is a little thicker there. So that's where we get that two and seven eighths inch. The outer diameter of the actual housing is about four inches, about three and seven eights, by about four and a quarter, or about four and five 16ths, so we want to get a little bit more exact. It takes three screws to get it in place. It does not come with any hardware, so you will have to pick some up on your own.

The depth here at the back that needs to go in, is about one and three quarter inches. Our poles for getting this mounted are going to be about an eighth of an inch in diameter, so you'll need to find some eighth inch diameter hardware to mount this up. It is UV and impact resistant and should do a pretty good job of keeping your wiring safe. That's going to do it for our look at the JR Products electrical cable hatch for RVs.
